Blah

Mid-winter.
I wanted nothing more this morning
than to drive north on the freeway, head up
to the Skagit Valley and spend the day among
the snow geese, and all those miles and miles
of flat farmland, the dormant tulip fields.
A whim.
But I drove south, as usual, into the city
and on to work.
