"I am in love with the world." --Maurice Sendak

I've listened to this (the link below) about ten times today already, and every time brings tears.
This shall become an annual post, along with Brendan Gill's Rules One and Two.
Enjoy.
And live your life.

  1. I saw this on Facebook today and tried to listen, but my computer kept freezing. So, now, as I ready for bed, I have finally been able to hear it. It is indeed beyond beautiful, and makes me choke up with gratitude and love. I've seen a few interviews with MS, and he always struck me as such a straight shooter -- full of life and awe but never sentimental. Thank you for sharing this.

  3. Thanks for sharing this lovely, lovely interview. I got very choked up listening to his words. I also enjoyed the Rules very much. Thanks for the perspective this cold and gray day.

  4. I'm so glad you shared this, that I found it. Now I am off to find Brendan Gill. There it is, in all its duality, the tears of grief, endless grief, and the joy of life. I think we may be excused for occasional confusion. xo

  5. And now Brendan Gill's words and the quiet dawning at an advanced age of how we are to do this, this living. It really is a form of anarchy he promotes. No wonder I've always wished to side with the rebels. xo
