It's quarter to ten and Paul is politely suggesting I close this computer
so we can go up to the gym and lift weights. It's not enough that I do
packing and shipping at work, which = weight-lifting. Not so glamorous
as at the gym, alas. He's been putting me through a particular kind
of torture since our trainer has been out for surgery. And after three
months of this four-or-five days a week strenuous output of energy
one would think that at least a few inches would be shed from
this half-century+ body. Well. No. Not at all. I'm convinced
that muscles weigh more than fat. Yes? Please?

  1. Of course muscles weigh more than fat! Good for you for going to the gym. Me, I've been worried that ever since I quit my job which required schlepping boxes around the store, my arms are going to turn to jello.

At least Skyway, where I live is full of tons of hills which is giving me a good burn when I go for a walk.

    Keep up the good work!

  2. I think the idea is that the muscles weigh more but take up less space, so you can gain weight but drop a size. That's an idea; I have yet to prove it or see any proof of it on my own body, though. (Sorry--that's pretty cynical for a Wednesday.)

  4. I have been doing weight training AND keeping the food journal recommended by y'all's coach. After almost a month I have a one (1) pound loss to show. So I'm hoping that means the added muscle weight is canceling out the loss of fat, but who knows? My new motto: Will exercise for food and drink.

    Hang in there...

  5. Well, that used to be true for me. I think physics must have changed though, since I hit mid-life.
