Houseguests, all to bed early, drooped with j-lag.
A straight steady rain, the windows
and doors open: the world is white and green.

I cooked all afternoon, Guinness stew
and bread and apple crisp.

Two neighbor girls took their horses swimming in the cove.

Dishwashing liquid is called Fairy Liquid
and laundry detergent is called Fairy Powder.
Plastic wrap is called Cling Film.

  1. I'm in the midst of "Stalking Irish Madness" by Patrick Tracey. It's fascinating how fairies are such a part of ancient Irish tradition. Love the notion of fairy liquid and powder!

  3. I assumed that the company's marketing and pr staffs were going for the 'magical' help with domestic duties association that are part of fairy tales -- you know the cobbler's brownies and so on.

  6. I would love a horseback ride in a cove in Ireland. And some fairies to do my cleaning up.
