Yesterday, I carried home from work a long tendril of clematis armandii, and today, though they've wilted, the room is afloat in their scent — a kind of powdery gardenia scent, with barely a suggestion of spice. It's glorious.
I will have to use your words and images to imagine, as this would never grow so far north. Today, I was longing for a small vase of lily of the valley, to both see and smell. This will have to do for now, thanks.
I have one covering the walls of our pool 'pump house'. It too is in flower. Wonderful.
