Every day I see that many of my fellow bloggers have posted anew, yet I can't quite bring myself to read them. The Who and The What is fundamentally off-balance; I'm still living out of a suitcase, digging out the grime at my house on the weekends, cleaning the trail of seeping fluids from my cat who I fear is not making progress to recovery.

But the many layers of accumulated grime are receding, at slow pace, but nonetheless they are starting to wash down the drain. I brought out the Big Chemicals and the stiff brushes, and every square inch of everything is getting scrubbed. Tomorrow the carpet cleaners come, so this afternoon my son and I carted the flotsam and jetsam from carpeted rooms to the bedroom recently (today, in fact) vacated by my paying renter. My house/my home is beginning to come into view.

  1. You have enough on your plate -- you can take a break from reading your favorite blogs. They'll understand.

Putting the house in good order is a great way to get clear of all the angst. Hope it continues to become the home you know and love.

  3. Don't worry about reading right now..you are cleaning more than your house and you need the time.

  4. I hope the progress with cleaning is mirrored by your cat...recovery thoughts continue. On an ordinary day I have trouble traveling among my favorite blogs. I think they've begun to make the days shorter or there is less of me in them. Be well. xo

  5. One cubic foot at a time. Scrubbing is kind of like peeing in the corners. And as women, we need that. Especially in the kitchen! Every time I've moved I would make a big, (VERY) fragrant curry to scent the walls, curtains, and nooks and crannies. And invite friends of my new/real life to join in the initiation. May I suggest something similar? It's pretty powerful. Especially the next morning clean-up. Grounds one right away! I'll bring something, but you have to make something very fragrant--it has to seep into the pores of your home. keep leaning toward the light...

  6. I love Melinda's idea...

And Good luck with the cleaning T - it's tough but it is a great way to work through grief I find. When my friend who lost her husband cleaned up her place to rent out and move away, we went to the tip so many times with so much junk, recycled the rest - it was an amazing time that I will always treasure. I have kept the one red rubber glove she always wore when we did that. Her house stands now clean and fresh and full of a new young family. There's something right about that too. But I miss her...
