Grape hyacinth has magical powers for me...as a child I would peer over a neighbor's hedge to see it growing, along with Johnny Jump-ups, in mossy parts near the iris, under weeping willows. As though they belong to fairy folk, all the stronger for growing through the sidewalk. A good sign. xo
